It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a true legend David Wayne Morris on May 1, 2023, after a brave two-year battle with extensive small cell lung cancer. Dave was born on September 28, 1962, to Peggy Soles Morris Vahl and the late Ronald Thomas Morris. He made his mark on the world in more ways than one.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Leona, his daughters Tiffany (Evan) and Jessica (Bruce), and his adored grandchildren, JamieLynn, Jordan, Nate, Peyton, and Liam. He was also survived by his sister, Rhonda Morris Butler, and a niece, Emily Butler. Other relatives include a step-sister, Karen Vahl Gunter (Dave), and step-brother, Jeffrey Vahl. Dave cherished his cousins, Cora June, Norman Jr., Marjorie, and Gina. He was predeceased by his Aunt and Uncle, Norman and Joyce VanDerVeer.

Dave grew up in Yorktown, VA, and after graduating from Northern High School, he attended Durham Technical School and the Honda Jet Institute. Dave had a great passion for the printing industry, and he worked tirelessly in this field for over 40 years. He owned and operated his own company, Dave's Printing Services and MidState Printing Services. Dave also worked for various other printing businesses, including PIP Printing, Bulldog Printing, International Minute Press, and Quick Color Solutions. Dave's love for printing was a testament to his passion and dedication to his work. Dave also worked and was well known at Grove Winery, Ace Speedway, and Piedmont Dragway.

In addition to his love for printing, Dave had a passion for car racing. From 1983 to 1986, Dave was known for tearing up the track at Orange County Speedway and South Boston Speedway, racing his number 12 car in the Street Stock class. Dave loved to go to NASCAR races with family and friends. He was also an avid NC State fan, enjoyed hitting the links for a round of golf, and took pride in his beautiful garden every summer. Dave was a man of few words, but his love and care for his family were evident in the weekly phone calls he made to his loved ones.

Dave's family was the light of his life, and he adored spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. Whether it was taking them on vacations or spending time with them during family visits, his love for them was immeasurable, and they were always the highlight of his life.

Dave will be remembered for his gentle demeanor, easy-going nature, and unwavering devotion to his family. His passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest in peace, Dave.
