Davy Mitchell

Mr. Davy Lynn Mitchell 75, of Gibsonville, formerly of Graham, NC passed away on June 27, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. Davy was born on December 27, 1946 to the late Roy L. Mitchell and Jessie Pruitt Lunsford. Davy was retired from the City of Graham with 25 years of service as the Head Building Inspector for the city. Davy was also a retired Volunteer Firefighter with the City of Graham serving as Lieutenant and was awarded Firefighter of the year in 1978-1979. Following retirement Davy worked many years with McClure Funeral Service always putting his community first. Davy was an avid fisherman and loved to fish at Farmers Lake, Buggs Island and the beaches of North Carolina. Davy was a proud veteran of the US ARMY and was a rifle specialist. Davy loved his country and was very patriotic but nothing put a smile on his face like his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Marie Holyfield Mitchell; his son, Brian Mitchell and wife Elaine; his step daughter, Ivey Sanders; his granddaughter, Alex Seamster and husband Ben; grandsons, Braxton Mitchell, Bryson Mitchell,  Brandon Mitchell, and Hunter Andrews; his very special great grandchildren, Bayleigh and Mason Seamster; his sisters, Brenda McDowell and Glenda King; children, Scott and Ashley Mitchell, and a special nephew, Gunnery Sargent Stephen Barr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, Roy and Hattie Hancock. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday July 1, 2022 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with John B. Harrington with McClure Funeral Service and the Graham Fire Dept. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service on Friday at the funeral home.
