Diane Smith Walters, 67, of Graham, NC passed away on January 2, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. She was born on January 3, 1954 in Burlington, NC and grew up in Graham, NC.  She is the daughter of Earl Waymond Smith and Nellie Herring Smith both deceased.  Before retiring, Diane worked in the banking industry as a Customer Service Representative with Capital Bank.  She always had a warm smile, enjoyed helping others and never met a stranger. Her energy was something that was always admired and her strength and determination was revered. She was an inspiration to many especially her children.  She had an easy demeanor about her and was a good listener.  She loved attending many events and activities with her family especially at the beach. Diane is survived by her husband, Tommy Darryl Walters, sisters, Linda Wilson and husband Steve, Pattie Edwards, brother, Gregory Smith and wife Wendy.  Her children, Melissa F. Thorpe, Michael D. Fowler and wife Kristy, and Stephen L. Fowler, 5 grandchildren Alex Thorpe, Avery Thorpe, Emma Thorpe, Andrew Fowler and Laurel Fowler. The funeral will be held at the McClure Funeral Service Chapel in Graham on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 1:00 pm.  The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. Diane was one of the strongest women to ever walk this earth and was the rock of her family.  She will be greatly missed.  She adored her grandchildren and spending quality time with them was most important to her. The family will receive friends after the service at her residence.
