Donald "Donny" Terrell

Donald “Donny” M. Terrell Sr., 77, died suddenly in his home on March 11, 2019.  He was the son of the late Elmo and Evelyn Hastey Terrell.  Donny coached sports for the city of Mebane for over four decades.  He retired from the NC School of Science and Math. Donny was an avid fan of the Wolfpack of NC State and never missed watching a game unless Eastern was playing a home football game.  He was a huge supporter and fan of the Eastern Alamance Eagles and could be found at every home game on Friday night for over 55 years pulling the chains on the sideline with the chain gang.  He always remarked he had the best seat in the house.  Donny was inducted into the Mebane Sports Hall of Fame for all the dedication he gave to the youth and sports of Mebane.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Leach Terrell of the home, sons; Donald “Donny” Terrell Jr. (Allison) and Thomas “Tommy” Carson Terrell, daughter; Danielle Terrell Wagner (Anna), two grandsons who were the apple of his eye, Thomas “Reid” Terrell, Ethan Blane Wagner, brother; Mike Terrell and  numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. 

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

The family will receive friends on Friday March 15, 2019 from 5-7 at McClure Funeral and Cremation Service in Mebane.  A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday March 16, 2019 at Mebane United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
