Francisco Vila, 84, of Mebane, was called by His Lord and Savior on Tuesday February 9, 2021 At Cone Health ARMC in Burlington.  A native of Ponce, P.R., he was the husband of almost 65 years of Mrs. Gloria Vila and the son of the late Rev. Francisco Vila and the late Adelina Wys de Vila. His journey through life took him to Bridgeport, Conn; back to Puerto Rico where he worked many years for Union Carbide; Galveston, Texas and finally North Carolina where he worked and retired from UNC Hospitals.  He was an electrician by trade. He was an avid bowler, winning numerous trophies.  He also enjoyed playing his guitar, but most of all he loved and was not shy to share the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mr. Vila is survived by his wife Gloria of the home, four children, Walter Vila (Zulma) of Haw River; Gloria Pasarell (Lester) of League City, Texas; Doreen Vila of Mebane; and Frank Vila (Amarilis) of Mebane; Seven grandchildren, Walter Vila (Michelle) of Haw River; Nanette Atkinson (James) of Chapel Hill; Eddie Seijo-Vila (Morgan) of Burlington; Michelle Sparks (Chad) of Conroe, Texas; Leslie Pasarell of League City, Texas; Enrique Vila (Breanna Armstrong) of Graham and Juan Carlos Vila (Jacqueline) of Mebane.  Four great grandchildren, Collin and Gabriela Atkinson of Chapel Hill, Victoria Eden Vila of Burlington and Remi Kate Sparks of Conroe, Texas.  Step great grandchild, Auron Armstrong of Graham.  One sister Nelly Vila of Fredericksburg, VA, a brother John Vila-Wys of Cary, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Milagros and two sisters.
The family will hold a private graveside service at 11am on Friday, February 12, 2021 with the Rev. Otoniel Recinos officiating.
Job 19 25-27 I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.  And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes- I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!
