G. Carl Nash passed away Tuesday September 20, 2022. Born in Ossipee North Carolina to Wofford and Laura Meeks Nash on January 05 1933, his last residence was Magnolia Glenn in Raleigh North Carolina where he made many new friends.
Mr. Nash was the youngest of nine children, all of whom have passed away: Sisters Jeanie Whitworth, Louise Jones, Ruth Freeman and Edith Gibson; brothers Ed Nash, W.L. “Dub” Nash, Bill Nash and Tommy Nash.
Mr. Nash joined the Air Force in 1953 near the end of the Korean conflict, served many of his 23 years overseas to include the Phillippines, Taiwan, Okinawa, and Thailand. While stationed in Taiwan he met Shen Hsiao Wan and they were married in 1963. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and reached the rank of Master Sargent heading crews that maintain F105 fighter bombers for missions in Vietnam among many other aircraft over the years.
Mr. Nash retired from the Air Force early to attend to his wife who took ill in the 1970’s and who passed away many years later in 1999. He was predeceased by one son John Kuo (Vivian) and is survived by two daughters Debra Welsh (David) and Amy Newberry (James) of Raleigh and one son David Nash of Raleigh.
After leaving the Air Force, Mr. Nash took a position with the Burlington Postal Service. While working for the Postal Service, he met Jamie McPherson of Snow Camp North Carolina and they were married in 2007. Jamie passed away in 2019. They are survived by two daughters Carol McArthur and Cheryl Gerringer (Simon) both of Snow Camp.
Mr. Nash adored his family which now includes, in addition to the children named above, fifteen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren. Mr. Nash was uncle to many nieces and nephews, many of which predeceased him.
Funeral arrangements are with McClure Funeral Home of Graham North Carolina and burial with military honors at Alamance Memorial Park South Church Street Burlington North Carolina.
Visitation at the Funeral Home Saturday September 24 at 12:00 noon followed by a service in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial at the grave site will be at 3:00 PM.
