George Sackett Obituary

George Dustin Sackett, 78, of Swepsonville, passed away Saturday, September 04, 2021, at Alamance Regional Hospital. George was born in Richmond, Virginia to Howard Dustin Sackett and Doris Lovell Sackett, both deceased. Mr. Sackett was a retired telecommunications manager. George attended the First Baptist Church of Mebane and can be remembered as a truly good Christian man. He can be described as a servant, doing mission work over the years and always willing to help someone in need or in distress. This is one of many examples of his character as a people person, always interested to know about someone new when their paths crossed. George loved being a husband and father but his title as grandpa held a very special place in his heart, his granddaughter Kamryn was the apple of his eye, and he took as much time as he could with her. George was also a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force for 4 years.

George is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruby Nunnery Sackett, his daughter, Lisa Smothers (Clare), his son, Randy Sackett (Jediah), his granddaughter, Kamryn Smothers, his sister, Janet, his brothers, Allen, Bruce, Roy, and Richard, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 18th, 2021, at The First Baptist Church of Mebane beginning at 11:00am. A visitation will be held at the church for the family to receive friends an hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made out to The First Baptist Church of Mebane Building Fund.
