Gordon Madden Obituary

Mr. Gordon Lamont Madden Sr. 68 of Snow Camp, NC passed away on October 9, 2020 at his residence. The baby of five children, he was born and raised in Alamance Co. NC, and was the son of the late William and Margaret Poe Madden. Gordon was a graduate of Graham High School Class of 1970. After graduating from Graham High, he then greatly decided to join the US Marine Corps in which he was a proud Veteran. Following his time in the Marine Corps, he married the love of his life, the late Diane Webster Madden. Gordon then began his career in Law Enforcement with the Graham Police Department and retiring from the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office. Over the years one of his biggest commitments was giving back to those in need. He helped start and organize the Shop With A Cop as well as Christmas Cheer for families who needed a little help. Gordon and other officers in the band Fantastic Classics even played in schools for the DARE program. He loved those smiles.  One of Gordon’s passions in life was music. Since high school, he had a love for playing beach music as well as all the oldies. A few of the bands he played with over the years were Steve and the Deeds, Fantastic Classics and Showcase Band (Him and his son played music together with the classics and showcase) as he enjoyed playing with his buddies very much. After retirement, he became a car salesman just so he could take to people more. Gordon had a few loves in life such as playing guitar, singing, fishing, camping but nothing was more important than spending time with his friends and family especially his 6 grandchildren who could talk him in to doing almost anything. Survivors include his loving daughter, Brandi M. Carter and husband Shawn and his son, Gordon L. Madden Jr. and wife Ginger; his loving six grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Rogers and Christine Phillips and a Brother Albert Madden and several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Butch Madden. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday October 20, 2020 at Integrity Community Church in Burlington with the Pastor Bud Wrenn officiating and the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard giving officer and military rites. The family will receive friends following the service at the Church on Tuesday. McClure Funeral Service in Graham is assisting the family.
