Gregory “Greg” Brooks of Burlington, NC passed away on April 10, 2022, at the age of 67. He was born in Long Island, New York on September 28, 1954. Greg was passionate about many things, most especially his country, his Polish heritage and his family. He was extremely well-read and enjoyed talking about topics ranging from U.S history to Norse god mythology and current events. He was an avid collector of guns and would jump at the chance to show them off or explain their intricate details. A talented artist, musician, singer and song writer, he liked nothing more than to play guitar and fellowship with his bandmates. Greg was also a true outdoorsman who enjoyed anything to do with nature. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends who loved him dearly.
Greg is survived by his daughter, Tahra Brooks-Cessna and her husband Timothy Cessna, his son, Justin Kyle Brooks and his wife Maria Figueroa, his daughters Kathleen Johnson, Eileen Kelleher, Erika Kridel and her husband Mel Abbott; his three grandchildren, Gavin Cessna, Gage Cessna, and Kaitlyn Johnson; and his four siblings, Jeanine Rossi, Stephanie Zwald, Jeffrey Brooks, and Scott Brooks and their spouses and children. Greg was preceded in death by the love of his life Gail Johnson Brooks, his father H. Donald “Poppy” Brooks, and his mother Beatrice “Nanny” Brooks.
A private celebration of Greg’s life will be held by his family and close friends on May 7, 2022 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Bellemont United Methodist Church, 439 Markwood Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
