Harry Jennings Hawkins 71 passed away on May 1, 2021. Harry was born June 5 1949 in Raleigh, NC. His parents Rainey Thomas and Louise J Hawkins precede him in death and his wife Debbie Hawkins. Harry is survived his four children and seven grandchildren, Jennifer “Jenna” Hawkins York (Shawn) and children Mattie and Anna York of Efland; John Thomas Hawkins (Heather) and son Wyatt Hawkins of Texas; Melissa Hawkins Ashley (Chance) and children Troy and Quinn Ashley of Graham; Robert “Robbie” Jennings Hawkins (Trish) and children Brody and Ryan Hawkins of Graham and a Step son Dustin Fearrington. His is also survives by his sibling’s, Lynda R Aleshire, William Thomas Hawkins and John Richard Hawkins. After graduating from Eastern High School, he served in the US ARMY after a tour in Korea he was stationed in Fort Hood Texas until he received an honorable discharge in 1970. Harry graduated from Appalachian State University where he received his business degree with a minor in teaching. Harry received his real estate license September 1977 and worked for Hawkins and Realty. He was self-employed as a carpenter and took great pride in his work. Harry loved to fish. He also enjoyed watching ACC basketball and football. He was an avid reader and like to swap books with friends. He watched golf and was a Carolina Panthers fan. Harry loved to have a Budweiser with his friends at the Clay Street Tavern. He would talk, drink and laugh with his close friends. They would also watch westerns and the Andy Griffith show daily together. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday May 6, 2021 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Pastor Sammy Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in the honor of Harry.
