Hilda Wood Edwards, 90, of Burlington, passed away March 30, 2021.
Born June 4, 1930 in Alamance County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Lona Cates Wood and the widow of Gordon Edwards, with whom she shared her life for 60 years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Edwards, a sister, Gladys Trollinger, and a brother, Jack Wood. Hilda is survived by her daughter-in-law Vickie Edwards of Burlington, granddaughter, Joanna Edwards and great granddaughter Ebbie of Wendell, grandson, Scott Edwards of Burlington, step-grandsons, Todd Jones of Graham and Chad Jones (Danielle) of Mebane.
Hilda was an active member of Phillips Chapel UMC of Haw River where she was lovingly known as the “Most Beautiful Lady” there. Her witty sense of humor kept a smile on everyone’s face and she never met a stranger. Hilda retired from Kyser Roth Hosiery and Hawfields Presbyterian Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Friday April 2nd at the Phillips Chapel Cemetery at 2362 Brucewood Road, Haw River, NC 27258. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Pastor Mark Stephens and Pastor John Woodard will officiate.
Family and friends are welcome to view and pay their respect to Hilda on Thursday April 1st from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at McClure Funeral Home in Graham.
