He volunteered and helped with the Scouts for several years. He helped to care for his mother, Annie until her death in 2001. He also spent as much time as her was able with his daughters. He loved arranging flowers and making bows. He helped out at several local florist from time to time. He also enjoyed making and painting ceramics. As well as drawing, he was a talented artist. He had a love for traveling and the open road. The mountains always held a special place in his heart. Going there often, taking his daughters along when he could. They spent many happy vacations traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Visiting historical sites, overlooks, and Joel's personal favorite waterfalls. He loved to draw the things they saw on their travels. Especially old mills with water wheels. He loved nature, singing, his large Eastwood family, and his daughters. He was a warm, caring, friendly man. That did his best to not let others see his struggles. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
