John Calvin "JC" Nicks, Jr.

Mr. John Calvin “JC” Nicks Jr. 88, of Mebane, NC, passed away on November 13, 2023 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Alamance Co. NC, he was the son of the late John Calvin Sr. and Ruth Oakley Nicks and the husband of the late Jo Alice Stanfield Nicks. JC retired in 1998 from the trucking industry at 63 years old. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in the Military Police. Over the years, he and his wife enjoyed trips to the beach to get some rest and relaxation. JC was known for his kind heart, always putting the needs of others above his own. He was a faithful member of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church where he served on the Session as a Church Deacon. For many years JC was the church cemetery overseer as he always took such pride in looking after the grounds and making the cemetery a nice place to visit. He will forever be remembered for being loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. Survivors include his loving sons, Jay Nicks, of Bella Vista, AR, and Joseph Nicks and wife Tanya, of Albemarle, NC; grandchildren, William Nicks and Sara Kay Nicks, and his sister, Algene Storey, of Burlington, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday November 19, 2023 at the Cross Roads Presbyterian Church with the Pastors Kate Harper and Willie Teague officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service on Sunday in the Church fellowship hall.
