Johnny Max Batten

Mr. Johnny Max Batten, 87, of Graham, NC, passed away on November 14, 2023. He was the son of the late Ralph Batten and Pearl Woodard Batten. Mr. Batten will be remembered as a man’s man, his hard-working nature and loving demeanor left an impression on anyone who knew him. He was the family hero; God broke the mold when He made Johnny. He always made sure those close to his heart left his presence feeling loved and cherished.  

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Batten; his son, Rickey Batten Sr.; his great-granddaughter, Hailie Freeze; his brother, Jack Batten; and his sister, Linda Blackwell.

Mr. Batten is survived by his son, Larry Batten of the home; his daughter, Lori Meeks (Junior); his daughter in law, Carleen Batten; his grandchildren, Kristy O’Baugh (Josh), Misty Freeze (Brad), Rickey Batten Jr., Larry Batten Jr., Kasey Hamilton (Robert), Jonathan Meeks, Adam Meeks; six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 12:00PM at McClure Funeral Home in Graham. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00AM and other times at the home of Brad and Misty Freeze. Burial will follow the service at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery
