Katherine "Ginger" Vincent Bayless

HAW RIVER:  Katherine "Ginger" Vincent Bayless, age 76, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at UNC Hospital.  She was born in Durham County, NC, the daughter of the late Charlie Moorefield Vincent and Elene Vincent Tillett.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, June Bowers Fife and Nancy Louise Vincent.

Ginger was a graduate of the first graduating class of Orange High School in 1964. She graduated from Alamance Community College with a degree in Business Administration. She had several professions throughout her life and was known to be a true self-starter and creative entrepreneur.

Ginger was a devoted wife and mother. She had a passion for quilting and made some amazing pieces of art with her beloved friends (Cedar Grove Quilters). She was a horse enthusiast (her beloved “Maggie”) and participated in trail riding all over the state. Her hobbies included cooking, catering events, camping, and spending time with family. She dearly loved her two yorkies “Bella” and “Rolex”.  She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all that knew her. 

She is survived by her husband, Charles Denver Nance; son, Brandon Bayless; daughter, Wenona “Noni” Bayless; Stepson, Damon Nance; grandchildren (Brandon Bayless), Katie Bayless, Elie Bayless, and Bo Bayless; grandchildren (Noni Bayless) Sarah Dunnagan and Sydney Dunnagan; grandchildren (Damon Nance) Olivia Nance, Alexandra Nance and Juliana Nance; sister, Barbara Pope; niece, Terri Pope; nephew, Joel Pope (wife, Virginia), Collin Pope, Logan Roberson; cousin, Lee Wallace Vincent (wife, Charman). 

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of UNC Hospital (Chapel Hill) Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Palliative care team. They were genuinely compassionate to Ginger and the family during their time of need and provided exemplary care.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, November 19, 2022 in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham. Scott Jewell will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
