Kathleen "Kathy" (Cates) Barker

Kathleen “Kathy” Cates Barker, 68, of Haw River passed away Monday, October 9, 2023 at The Hospice Home in Burlington. Kathy was born in Alamance County to William Melvin Cates, Sr. and Helen Brown Cates both deceased. Kathy worked for the City of Burlington in the Department of Parks and Recreation and she was of the Baptist Faith.

Kathy is survived by her children, Terry L Cates, Jr., Joseph L. Cates, Sr., William L Cates.

Sister, Shirley Cates Holland. Seven nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Kathy is also preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Cates., brothers, Terry L Cates, Sr, William M. Cates, Jr., Lawrence Eugene Cates, Sr., John W. “Johnny” Cates.

A funeral service will be held Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Officiating will be Dr. Frederick Bunts, Pastor Don Pegg, and Pastor Gene Cates. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until 2:00 PM  prior to the service.  

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff  at Hospice Home in Burlington for their compassion and care they gave Kathy. They would also like to thank her niece Vickie Reynolds for her care of Kathy.
