She was a woman of natural grace, courage, faith, and compassion with a stubborn streak that showed up when she put her mind to something. She was our best friend and we are humbled by the challenge of describing the fullness of her beauty and the depth of her love. She was always there to listen to our worries and our challenges, always willing to give the best advice. Even when her family didn’t make the right choices, her words were filled with love and encouragement. Throughout her lifetime, Mama/Maw Maw set the best example of sacrifice and dedication to her family.
One of her favorite things was to spend time with her family. She loved cookouts with her rather large family and there was never a time that any of us had to ask if we could bring someone with us because she always knew how to plan for the size of an Army, and greeted everyone with open arms; if you didn’t leave with a full belly, it was your fault.
She had a magical way to of bringing joy to every space she filled and there isn’t anyone who met her that could ever forget that big smile of hers. Anytime we were out in public, folks would stop us to talk to her, as she was adored as the Walmart greeter (We called her Walmart’s Public Relations). You could bet when they said their goodbyes, we would always hear, “You have the sweetest Mama/Grandmother!) She adored her job at Walmart because of the interactions and new friendships she made (some of which became her family).
We are so thankful for and will never forget the life lessons she taught us. Above all else, the constant sense of family and love without condition. Her wisdom and legacy will forever guide us throughout the rest of our lives. We love and will miss her, until we meet again We will take our time to grieve our loss, knowing that eventually, all of the amazing memories we had the honor to experience will fill the void and ease our pain. We are so grateful for the outpour of prayer, love, and support from everyone. A very special thanks to the nurses and doctors at Alamance Cone Health, who gave the upmost best of care and guidance throughout her stay.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday August 18, 2023 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Bill Easter officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
