Mrs. Louise Minnie Mahan Rainey, 94, of Burlington, NC passed away on Tuesday May 19, 2020 at White Oak Manor in Burlington. A native of Alamance Co. NC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Newton and Ida Bowland Mahan and the wife of the late William H. Rainey. Mrs. Rainey graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1942 where she was the Captain of the Girls Basketball Team which she was so very proud of her of keeping up with her classmates over the years. She retired from Burlington Industries with numerous years of service. After retirement she then went to work with the Church she loved so much, Union Ridge Church. Throughout the years, Louise helped many families at the church from, cooking, cleaning, volunteer work, or whatever she could do to help. For many years, she also volunteered with Hospice of Alamance/Caswell lending a hand to others in need. Louise loved her family and she enjoyed sharing the family history leaving the memories to be carried on by the next generation. Survivors include her many loving nieces, nephews and other loving extended family. In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William M. “Bill” Mahan (Ruth) and James M. Mahan (Joyce). Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the family will be holding a memorial service at a later date at Union Ridge Church and will be laid to rest by her husband in the Church Cemetery.
