Margaret Ann Covington Lancaster                                                                 May 15, 1935 – November 25, 2020

Margaret Ann Covington Lancaster, 85, of Mebane passed away November 25, 2020. Known to many as Peggy or Peg, she is the daughter of the late James Earl and Pauline Richmond Covington. She was a native of Alamance County, graduate of Peace College, and became a homemaker after the birth of their first child.  A member of Mebane Presbyterian Church, she served as President of Presbyterian Women for two terms, taught Sunday School for over 40 years to children, youth and adults; in 1992 she was honored with Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership. Peggy was also a coordinator for Meals on Wheels in Mebane for several years and continued to deliver meals for many years after that.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Robert Lancaster, Sr.; daughter, Ann Lancaster Wright and husband Mark; son, Joseph Robert Lancaster, Jr.; grandson, Thomas Dylan Wright; granddaughter Margaret Amelia Lancaster; siblings, James Earl Covington (deceased) and wife Mary Jean, Dewey Richmond Covington and wife Sally, Joseph Murray Covington and wife Joyce; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 1, at Mebane Presbyterian Church.  The family will have a brief time of greeting at the Church before the memorial service. The family will have a private graveside service at another time.  Memorials may be made to the Mebane Presbyterian Church, 402 South 5th Street, Mebane, NC 27302.
