Mrs. Marie Douglas Heffner, 86, of Graham, NC, passed away on Thursday August 1, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. A native of Orange County, NC, she was the daughter of the later George Franklin and Lois Rogers Douglas and the wife of the late Clayton Edgar Heffner Jr. Marie was a proud member of Burlington Assembly of God where she volunteered with many Church functions over the years. She also volunteered with the Pink Ladies at the hospital, doing taxes at the Senior Center for those who needed help, and she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Marie worked with Western Electric for many years prior to retiring to what was then known as Lucent Technologies. She was an avid gardener and loved taking trips with her late husband Clayton around the world. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Survivors include her daughter, Camille Thomas; grandchildren, Jon Andrew “Drew” Thomas and wife Brittany and Candice C. Wynn and husband Billy; great grandchildren, Rebekkah Wynn and Garrett Wynn; son-in-law, Edward Thomas, and her nieces, Kelly Gunter and husband Will and Joyce Stophel and husband Jerry. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine Cates and Anne Compton and her brothers, Billy and George Douglas. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday August 6. 2019 at the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Pastors, Brian Rainbow and Howard Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Burlington Assembly of God at 821 Tucker St, Burlington, NC 27215.
