Mary “Grandma” Ferrell, 93, of Graham, passed away on November 10, 2021. She was an angel on earth, today she is an angel with God and family who has gone on before her. Born in a time when life was hard, she let God guide her way. “Grandma” as she was known to many people, Mary Ferrell was preceded in death by her husband William (Buck) Ferrell, parents Nettie Baker, stepfather Lucian Baker, father Heyward Nesbitt, son James Carson Ferrell, grandson Steve Ferrell, son-in-law Billy Combs, sister and brother-in-law Polly and Bud Joyner, and a niece, Catherine Joyner Perry.
She is survived by a son Heyward “Bill” Ferrell (Nicki), daughters Dale Lowe (Wayne) and Rev. Betsy Combs, 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. Grandma was a member of Gibsonville Church of God, retired from Alamance Community College snack bar where she made many friends and was known as “The Lady Behind The Counter”. She loved God, going to church, and was loved by everyone who knew her. She gave so much to so many. She taught Sunday school at Alamance Health Care for more than 20 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday November 15, 2021 at the Gibsonville Church of God with her daughter Rev. Betsy Combs and Rev. Russell Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Sunday November 14, 2021 at the McClure Funeral Service in Graham and other times at the residence of the family.
“Through the valley of this life, my steps are growing weary. Lord I am waiting; I am ready to go home.” There will be another angel around the throne tonite.
