Mary "Lou" Clark Obituary

Mary “Lou” Frazier Clark, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher & friend passed away June 13, 2020. Lou was a native of Guilford County (Julian). She grew up on a farm & learned from an early age the value of hard work. Her parents were Alton & Lessie Frazier. After graduating from Alamance High School, she attended & graduated from Appalachian State University. Lou began her teaching career at Mebane High School & retired from Eastern Alamance High School after 42 cumulative years of teaching. She taught part-time at Alamance Community College during the summers & completed graduate studies at UNC-G & East Carolina University.

During her first year in Mebane, she met her husband, Curtis Clark, Jr. They were married for 70 years & served their community together with love & enthusiasm. In addition to Curtis, she is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Vicky & John Pruitt from Winston-Salem & her son & daughter- in- law, Bruce & Pam Clark from Chesnee, SC. Her grandsons were the light of her eyes & they include: Justin (Mary),  Phillip, Michael (Megan) & Joshua. She also so proud of her 3 precious great granddaughters: Emma Grace & Isley Clark & Olive Pruitt.

Lou was an active member of Mebane Presbyterian Church where she served on various committees & taught Ladies Circle Meetings & Sunday School. She enjoyed being a member of Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers Society, Reviewers Club, Mebane Historical Museum, Emma Harris Garden Club, & VFW Post 1920 Auxiliary. Over the years she & Curtis were active supporters of educational & athletic programs of Mebane & Eastern High Schools. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge  & cooking. Lou was blessed with a great family & circle of friends.

Lou will be remembered for her compassion, integrity, appreciation for education & humility. Over the last several years, as her health declined, she continue to demonstrate the characteristics of her life: the fight of a tiger (Mebane High School mascot) & the strength & grace of an eagle (Easter High  School mascot).

Special thanks to her amazing care givers that allowed her to stay in her home for as long as possible: Latoya & Jakayla Wilkins, Flo Walker & Lovey Swepson.  Her final days were spent at Mebane Ridge where she received excellent care & compassionate attention.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20 at Mebane Presbyterian Church at 2:00 by Dr. Jeff Smith. Because of the coronavirus, there will be limited spaced seating, so the service will also be live streamed at First Baptist Church for extra seating. In addition, it will available on livestream at Mebane Presbyterian EPC Videos on YOUTUBE. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mebane Presbyterian Church Elevator Fund or Eastern Alamance Fieldhouse Fund. Online condolences may be sent to www.mcclurefuneralservice.net
