Cornelia Colicchio, 99, of Mebane, was called home to be with the Lord on Jan. 14. She was born to the late James and Lily Shambley also of Mebane. Cornelia is survived by 1 sister, Dorthy Wilkerson of Woodleaf, NC and predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Cornelia was a long standing member of Mebane United Methodist Church where she served with the women's group and often visited shut-in's. She worked for many years at Apparel and retired from GE. Second only to family get togethers, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, puzzles and working in her flower garden. Her quick wit and sense of humor made conversations such a joy. Cornelia was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Colicchio. She was the loving mother of Joan Patten (Bill), Kenneth Thomas (Nell), Peggy Young (Jerry), Gail Thomas and Kay Walter (Jack). She was adored by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was well loved and adored and will be missed by many. Family will receive visitors Saturday January 21st from 12 pm to 2 pm at McClure Funeral Home, Mebane. Service will be officiated by Pastor Trey Harris at 2 pm with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to AuthoraCare Hospice of Alamance County.
