Mrs. Nellie B. Oliver, 85, of Mebane, NC passed away on Saturday November 13th, 2021 at Alamance Healthcare Center in Burlington. A native of Alamance Co., she was the daughter of the late Jesse L. Morrow Sr. and Cathryn Whitmore Morrow. Nellie graduated from Graham High School in 1954, and following high school, Nellie went to The Katie B. Reynolds Hospital and School of Nursing, and attended classes at North Carolina Central University. Nellie retired from the Alamance Burlington School System as a Teacher Assistant along with working with Tate Realty Company as a Secretary and Bookkeeper.
As a member of Bethsada Baptist Church, Nellie loved the Lord as her faith was well founded, serving as a Church Deacon, Chair of the missionary committee for a number of years, member of the Church Choir, Church Secretary, Church Treasurer, and she was always willing to volunteer for any need the Church had. She had a special love and gift for crocheting and knitting, and if Nellie ever asked you your favorite color it wouldn’t be too long before she had made you an afghan quilt. Nellie enjoyed shopping with her sister, especially checking out local thrift shops around town and had a deep love for the Theatre Arts. With a background in nursing, she was a wonderful caregiver for those in need, and always put others needs above her own. Her laughter and smile was always known to brighten up any room and she will always be remembered for her incredible sense of humor.
Survivors include her son, Norris Bass; her daughter, Jerrina Plourdé; grandchildren, Alexx Bass, Briana Plourdé, Sophia Plourdé, Venessa Plourdé, Alana Plourdé, Sarah Bass, Andrew Bass, Amanda Bass, Rachel Bass, Sophia Bass, Jesse Bass and Catherine Bass; her loving sister, Dr. Anna Bass; brother-in-law: Bishop Arnie Bass (Leola Bass); Sisters-in-law; Laura Morrow, Dorothy Morrow, Alice Morrow nieces, Karen Bass, Shirley Watkins, Gloria Alexander, and Tonya Morrow; daughter-in-law, Patty Bass; nephews, Angelo Morrow, Patrick Morrow, Derek Morrow, Andre Morrow, Eric Morrow, Rodney Morrow, Karl Bass, Hal Morrow and many loving great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husbands, Emanuel Bass, Mitch Burnette and Wilbert Oliver; her loving son, Reginald J. Bass; sisters, Dorthy Spruill, Eloise King, Lucille Hayes and brothers, Hubert Morrow, William Morrow, Eugene Morrow and Jesse Morrow Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday November 21, 2021 in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane with Dr. William Wilson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Bethsada Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 pm on Saturday November 20, 2021 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and other times at the residence of her great niece, Tabitha Bass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethsada Baptist Church (Missionary Fund) at 4338 Mebane Oaks Rd. Mebane, NC 27302.
