Nelson Thomas Wright

Mr. Nelson Thomas Wright 81, of Burlington, NC passed away on March 16, 2022 at his residence. A native of Wayne Co. MI, he was the son of the late Earl M. and Lucille Creed Wright. Nelson was born in the Detroit area and grew up a Red Wings hockey fan, but over the years in NC he had come to love the Hurricanes. Nelson was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps and loved his country. He retired from Motorola working in the Greensboro and Raleigh areas as an Engineer. Following retirement, Nelson was a man who had to stay busy. He found a love for candle making, sewing, and working on computers, but he enjoyed nothing more than taking rides on his motorcycle. Nelson had a strong love for the Lord and was a member of Christian Life Assembly in Gibsonville where he served as a Church Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher and the Men’s Group Leader. He loved his church and church family. Nelson was known for being the strong silent type, but whenever necessary, he would let his opinion known. He was a man who loved to help others. He was involved in the ministry of helping those with addiction issues as he always would do what he needed to help those in need. He always put his needs aside for others. Over the years, Nelson’s hard work and ethics were life lessons taught to anyone around him. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Gerri Self Wright; his son, Rev. Nelson “Lynn” Wright and wife Jamie; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua and wife Stephanie, Thomas and wife Rachel, Todd and wife Carli, and Stephen and wife Mary; his great grandchildren, Liam, Zeke, Parker, Joseph, Daniel, Lucas, Landon, and Parker. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday March 19, 2022 at the Christian Life Assembly located at 307 NC-100, Gibsonville, NC with the Pastor Bruce Ritter officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Life Assembly Building Fun at 307 NC-100, Gibsonville, NC 27249. McClure Funeral Service in Graham is assisting the family.
