Richard Hill

Richard Lyn Hill of Mebane, North Carolina, and formerly of Fairview, North Carolina, and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away peacefully in his home after a long illness on May 13, 2019.  He was born on September 25, 1953 to Evelyn Marie Towe and Jesse Edward Hill in Corpus Christi, Texas. Richard is blessed with five siblings: Lloyd Moore (deceased), Rodney Hill, Rose Hill Peart, Michael Hill, and Sherron Hill Geralds.

He was a longtime resident of Buncombe County and graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in 1971. Richard’s devotion to his faith and family defined his life. He valued the pursuit of self-development and worked as a manager for Fredrickson Motor Express and Domino’s Pizza Distribution. He loved hard work, valued a good book and enjoyed the outdoors.  Richard is a cherished Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother. Richard will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family, loved ones, and community of faith. 

Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, Doris Oakes Hill, children, grandchildren, siblings, and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Oakes.  Richard’s children Brett, Jeremy, Erin, Justin, and spouses, along with grandchildren Mary, Alyssa, Kara, Kathryn, Hannah, Ellie, Benjamin, Rachel, Reagan, and twins along the way were a source of pride and joy to him. 

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday May, 18, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1401 Rascoe Dameron Road in Burlington, North Carolina.  Friends may visit with the family at 9:30am prior to services at the Church. 

Interment will follow at 12pm, Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the Latter-day Saint cemetery where services will be held.
