Richard Carroll Martin

Richard Martin, 85, of Mebane, passed away on July 24, 2022 at the Hospice Home in Burlington.  He was the son of the late Clarence and Odessa Martin.  Richard enjoyed the outdoors, he could always be found on his front porch sitting in the swing.  He loved working in his garden with his brothers.  Richard was blessed with wonderful neighbors that were always willing to lend a helping hand. Before he retired, he was a fixer at Cone Mills for over 35 years.  Survivors include his daughters, Carol Brown (Dean) and Debbie Smith (Doug); brothers, Allie Martin (Ruth) and Marshall Martin (Nancy); sisters, Betty Scott (Doug) and Janice McDaniel (Jimmy); four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, step-daughter, Norie Prince; step-son, Claude Wilkerson and numerous nieces and nephews.  Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rona Matheny Martin; sisters, Carolyn Littlejohn and Evelyn Terrell.  A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday July 29, 2022 in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane, officiated by Pastor Chuck Perkins .  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10am-11am at the funeral home on Friday.  The burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
