Richard Forrest Ray Jr.

Mr. Richard Forrest Ray Jr. 63, of Henderson, formerly of Haw River, NC passed away at his residence on April 13, 2024. A native of Alamance Co. NC, he was the son of the late Richard F. Ray Sr. and Anne Whitfield Ray. Richard was a 1979 graduate of Eastern Alamance High School where he was an outstanding football player and excelled in Track and Field. He had his electrical license and was retired from General Electric with nearly 30 years of service. His dream was following retirement, he and his family would move to the lake and spend their time by the campfire, fishing, and cooking steaks on the weekends but nothing put a smile on his face like his grandchildren. Richard was a proud veteran of the US Navy. Survivors include his loving wife, Lisa Cummings Ray; his daughters, Kristy Ray and Nikki Ray Doggett and husband Jamar; his son, Bud Ray and wife Carly; stepchildren, Justin Andrews, Jonathan Greene and Joshua Greene; his special grandchildren, Hayden, Wyatt, Waylon and Chloe; his sisters, Lisa A. Ray and Lori Briggs and husband Doug; a brother, Todd Ray and wife, Shea; and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday April 20, 2024, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the family receiving friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Bud and Carly Ray on Thursday and Friday located at 506 Neese Ct. Burlington.
