Sadie Greene Batten

Mrs. Sadie Greene Batten, 78, of Graham, NC, passed away on Sunday September 2, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late David and Nancy Hogan Greene. She was known by her family to have been the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In her younger years throughout the 1950’s to the 1980’s she was known as “Carol White” as she was a singer and involved in different singing groups with her husband and family. She was a charter member of Central Baptist Church that she cherished so dearly. Sadie loved to cook for her family and friends and everyone loved her cooking especially when it came to her cornbread and cakes. Sadie was a person her cared and loved her family, always putting others people’s needs over her own as she required nothing in return. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Johnny Max Batten; her daughter, Lori B. Meeks and husband Jr.; sons, Larry W. Batten Sr. and Rickey C. Batten Sr. and wife Carleen; grandchildren, Kristy Batten, Misty B. Freeze, Ric Batten, Larry Batten Jr., Kasey Hamilton, Jonathan Meeks and Adam Meeks; great grandchildren, Taylor Batten, Lexi O’Baugh, Brandon Freeze, Jacob Freeze, Jayden Batten, and Harley Hamilton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Hailie J. Freeze and her many loving brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at the McClure Funeral Service Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Mark Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel UMC Cemetery in Snow Camp. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday September 4, 2018 at the McClure Funeral Service in Graham and other times at the residence of her granddaughter, Misty Freeze in Graham.
