Sarah Elizabeth Madden Ingle passed away early on 10/5/2021 six weeks shy of her 99th birthday. She was born on 11/17/1922 and lived most of her life in Alamance County. Sarah graduated from Pleasant Grove/ School in 1939 and worked for Burlington Industries, Hawfield’s Presbyterian Home, and McCray Rest Home, retiring in 1999. Sarah loved her family, working, planting flowers and cooking wonderful meals. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Nannie Madden; her siblings, Lucille Cooper Denton, Andrew “Junior” Madden, Harold Madden, and Benjamin Madden; her daughter, Jane Smith; and sons-in-law, Ed Ward and Paul Smith.
Sarah is survived by her sister, Hilda Averitt (Charles); daughters, Kathy Ward and Ann Ingle; sons, Tim and Robbie (Scott); grandchildren, Stephen Ingle, Andrew Ward (Katie), Zachary Ward, Elizabeth S. Klutts (Gary), and Matthew Smith (Katherine); and eight great-grandchildren. She loved her family with all of her heart.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral. The family will gather for a private burial of her ashes at a later time.
