Mr. Sergio Fabris, 88, an Efland resident, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2022. Born in San Giovanni di Casarsa, Italy, the son of Angelo and Regina (Iuston) Fabris, he grew up amid the occupation of Italy by the Nazis during World War II. As a youth and young man, he developed skills as a carpenter and craftsman, and emigrated to Canada in the early 1950s.
In the early 1960s, he met his wife, Dorothy (Castellarin), at the wedding of their cousins in New York. He and Dorothy, who passed away in Efland in 2019, lived most of their adult lives in Lynnfield, Mass., raising three sons who survive them, including Jon, an Efland resident. Sergio worked for a construction company that specialized in marble installation including for some prominent places of worship such as the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. He later worked for many years at Logan Airport in Boston as a carpenter and maintenance specialist.
After retiring, he and Dorothy moved to Efland where they enjoyed a quiet, rural lifestyle. They made numerous friends in the area. They also loved to travel, particularly to Italy and St. Maarten. Survivors include their three sons, Jon; Peter, of Marlborough, Mass., his wife Marci, and son Miles; and David, of New Rochelle, N.Y., his wife, Anastatia, and daughter, Pia. He was predeceased by a sister, Marianna Segatto of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He is also survived by two brothers, Egidio, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; Livio, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada; and a sister, Edda Tracanelli, of Madonna di Rosa, Friuli, Italy, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held later this year in the Efland area.
