Thelma Nelson (Alderman) Wesley

Mrs. Thelma Alderman Nelson Wesley 93, of Garner, formerly of Burlington, NC passed away on October 30, 2021 at her residence after a long bout with failing health. She was born in Durham County NC and was the daughter of the late Elbert Adison Alderman and Amie Ruth Joplin Alderman. She was the wife of the late Leonard Telfa Nelson and Stephen “Henry” Wesley. Thelma retired from Western Electric in Burlington with 25 years of service as a company telephone operator. She was known for her quick wit and her entertaining personality. Her smile and laughter was always uplifting. Thelma was an accomplished pianist as she played for many different occasions, church services and community events. Following her retirement, she alongside her late husband Henry, served in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. She was a Commander of Flotilla 910 with a rank of Coxswain. Thelma will be lovingly missed by all of her family and friends. Survivors include her two loving sons, Thomas E. Nelson “Tommy” and wife Janet “Holly” Nelson and Donald L. Nelson and wife Essie. Her Grandchildren are Leonard Tyler (Ty) Nelson and wife Kelly, Audra Gail McRae and Gwendolyn Renee Nelson, Ryan Macrae and Michael Macrae. Her loving great granddaughter is Eva Kathryn Nelson. In addition to her parents and late husbands, she was preceded in death by her two sisters and a Brother. A Graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday November 4, 2021 at Alamance Memorial Park along with the family receiving friends from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM prior to the service at McClure Funeral Home in Graham.
