Mr. Thomas “Tommy" Grant Handy, 72, of Burlington passed away at home on Friday, November 5th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Handy was born in Alamance County to the late Edna Verlene-Andrews Handy and Henry Russell Handy. Tommy spent his last working years as a carpenter, working many long, hard days to provide for his family. Tommy loved to use his handyman skills in his free time as well, always willing to teach and lend a helping hand to his friends and family. Mr. Handy aka Black Duck also loved to fish, one of his biggest joys in life was getting to spend time with his buddies and loved ones at the lake. Tommy had a place in his heart for many things in his life but none surpassed the love he had for his family, he took as many chances as he could to be a good son, husband, brother, daddy, papa, great grandpa and friend.
Mr. Handy is survived by his wife, Myra Fogleman Handy, his sons Travis Handy (Michelle), and Thad Handy, his daughter, Tonya Qualls (Marty), nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A visitation will be held at the McClure Funeral Service in Graham on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021, from 5:30 - 7:30 for the family to receive friends. A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held in the McClure Funeral Service Chapel on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021 at 11:00, with Pastor Brian Biggers officiating.
