Thomas "Tom" Herbert Johnson

Mr. Thomas Herbert “Tom” Johnson 82, of Graham, NC formerly of Chicago, IL passed away surrounded by his family on July 10, 2022 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill. Tom was born on January 29, 1940 in Lakeland, FL to the late Ralph and Dory Thomas Johnson. Tom was the retired owner and operator of Johnson Trucking Company and was a 15-year Volunteer Firefighter with the City of Cary, IL Fire Dept, retiring as Lieutenant. Tom was an active 82-year-old and will be greatly missed by his buddies in the Challenge Golf League as well as the Mye Tavern Family. Tom enjoyed his times at the lake with his family and more recently the swimming pool where all of the neighborhood children loved to swim and was known to the children as Grandpa. Tom was a proud veteran of the US ARMY and was a true patriot. Tom was a man who loved to laugh but nothing put a smile on his face like his grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife, Marion Kunicki Johnson; his children, Michelle Phillips and husband Rob, Vicki Hendle and husband John, Stefanie Johnson, Mike Johnson and wife Kristen, Vince Weber and wife Laura, Tami Fiene and husband Taylor, and Jennie Beshel and husband Tim; his many loving and adored grandchildren, and his brothers, Dick and Gary Johnson. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM on Saturday July 23, 2022 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham. The family will gather following the visitation at Barrell and Bottle in downtown Graham from 3:30 until 5:30 on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
