Victor Lee Cloyd, 75, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Hospice Home in Burlington.
Born in Corbin, KY, Victor was the son of the late S. G. Cloyd and the late Cora Broughton Cloyd. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Juanita Cloyd.
Vic began his working career as a high school teacher and as an adjunct professor in college. He continued his career as a manufacturing engineer, programmer and systems manager at Cincinnati Milacron in Wilmington, OH. He retired from Vought Aircraft Co. in Dallas, TX. At Vought, he was a systems analyst and Programming Manager.
Vic was educated at Bethel-Tate High School, Bethel, Ohio, Wilmington College (AB), Wilmington, Ohio, Xavier University (MS), Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kennedy-Western University (PhD), Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Victor enjoyed Carolina Hurricanes Ice Hockey, working on his family tree, watching Hallmark movies, and Janis’s cooking. In his later life, he really enjoyed greeting military veterans wherever he went and thanking them for their service. He was a big believer in patriotism.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Graham, NC.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Janis Cloyd; his daughter, Michelle Cloyd Kirksey (Tim) of Durham, NC, and his son, David L. Cloyd (Jaime) of Buffalo, NY; Grandchildren, Noah and Lydia Kirksey and Matilda and Milo Cloyd; and sister, Rose Burns (Jack) of Hamilton, OH.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
