Virginia McCann Obituary

Virginia Dare Parker McCann, 87 of Burlington, NC passed away on October 28, 2020 at Peak Resources in Graham. A native of Duplin Co. NC and was the daughter of the late Thomas Oscar and Cora Caldonia Parker. Virginia was a lady who was always on the go. She enjoyed the simple things in life such as taking walks with her many walking sticks and had a special love for music, as she played the harmonica, piano, the harp or anything that made music. She had a loving soul and was always smiling. Virginia would always walk around whistling or singing a hymn and her laugh was known to be contagious. Virginia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she loved her Church and Church family. She was a lady of Faith and was strong in her beliefs but nothing made her more happy than her family sitting around the table for Sunday supper as she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Survivors include her daughters, Pamela M. Staley Ashe and husband Gary, and Cynthia M. Kawelo; her sons, Thomas F. McCann Jr. and wife Mary Beth and Patrick Shannon McCann and wife Cheri; her loving 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; her sister, Joan Pendergrass and her many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin McCann Sr.; sisters, Lena Dinstel, Marie Price, Margaret Grumbine, Louise Sorrell, Frances Frey and Juanita Bowman; brothers, Jack and Joe Champ Parker and her son in laws, Jerry Staley and Robert Kawelo. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday November 2, 2020 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; Gibsonville Ward in Elon with Bishop Keith Oustz officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park alongside her husband. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 PM on Sunday November 1, 2020 at the McClure Funeral Service in Graham and other times at the residence of her son, Thomas McCann. Condolences may be offered at www.mcclurefuneralservice.net
