Mr. Walter Tyson Wynn, Sr., 89, of Efland, NC passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill. A native of Orange Co. NC, he was the son of the late Ollie Vernon Wynn and Beulah Hatch Wynn. Walter was known as a kindhearted man who loved his family and friends. He loved nothing more than visiting with family and friends. He was a man who always put other’s needs above his own, especially when it came to his children and grandchildren. Walter enjoyed the outdoors and always took pride in his vegetable garden and making sure his yard was well maintained. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church where, over the years, he helped look after the Church grounds as well as serving as an Usher. For his selfless service to the Lebanon UMC, he was recognized as “Man of the Year” in 2006. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Shirley Tapp Wynn; his children, Julie W. Snead, Walter Tyson “Ty” Wynn Jr. and wife Susan, and Joseph Reid “Joe” Wynn; his loving grandchildren, Maegan Golden (Dave Melnick), Charlie “Chuck” Snead, Autumn Snead Joyce and husband Stephen, and Caitlin Wynn; great grandchildren, Kennedy Joyce, Samuel Golden, Kyndall and Kameron Joyce, and Karlie Ann Joyce; and his brother, Jessie Wynn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Wynn, and his brothers, Lessie and Tommy Wynn and a son-in-law, John Snead. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Pastor Rich Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and other times at the residence of his son, Ty and Susan Wynn.
