Willis Dale Rethaford Sr, 77, passed away May 9, 2023 at Authora Care Hospice Home in Burlington, NC after 6 months of fighting multiple health issues.

He was born to the late Howard Dale and Sarah Wagoner Rethaford. He grew up in Burlington with his sisters Teina (Weaver) and Becky (Caviness). He was later blessed with three more siblings in California with his dad and stepmother Dot who loved him as her own: Brad, Sherrie (Saterfield), and Tami (Cook).

He graduated from Williams High School where he played football. During that time, he also discovered his love for cars (especially Chevrolets). He worked at many dealerships in Alamance county but really found his calling in teaching Automotive Technology. First at what was then Technical Institute of Alamance (now ACC) and finally at Eastern Alamance High School where he spent his last 26 years before retiring. He was very proud of being a teacher and it meant so much when former students came up to him.

During this time, he also helped raise three children who he loved unconditionally. Michelle and Dale who proceed him in death and Amy (Al) Burne who survives. From them he gained six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He spent the last 30 years with his wife Kristy (Lloyd), who survives along with their two fur babies, Buster and Ginger. By marrying Kristy, he was also brave enough to take on the Lloyd girls (Karen, Kathy, and Kim) as three more sisters. He was loved by us all and will be missed until we see him again.

A funeral service will be held at McClure Funeral Home in Graham, NC at 2:00pm on Sunday, May 14th with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Burlington Animal Services.
