Wilma Ruth Hopkins, 73, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed peacefully on the sunny morning of July 22nd, 2020, with her loved ones by her side. Born January 2nd, 1947 in Orlando, Florida, Wilma came to love her adopted home in the Carolinas and spent as much time as she could in its mountains, beaches, and anywhere the sun was shining. She was a deeply caring, kind and compassionate person who radiated warmth and love to everyone around her. A free spirit, she loved nature, music and all things creative including writing her own short stories and beautiful poetry. As the heart and soul of a big, loving family, Wilma took great joy in creating a warm a loving home where friends and family always felt welcome.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Roy Dean Hopkins, her brother William Ralph Harris, her children Gary Keaton, Kim Keaton-Hulbert, Robert Keaton, Paul Keaton, Deanna Hopkins-Vernon, Darin Hopkins, Dana Hopkins-Barber, as well as 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Wilma’s husband, Roy, would like to thank the entire staff at Alamance House for the special attention and loving care they provided for Wilma and her family in her final months of life. He asks that in lieu of flowers you honor her memory by supporting alz.org in their continued efforts to find a cure.
