Those that knew her best will remember Yvonne for her love of art, geneology, and Tarheel basketball.

She taught art through Alamance Community College for 47 years up until 2019 when her health would no longer allow it. She actively painted throughout her lifetime and her works are displayed at Sylvan School, Cane Creek Church, and in the homes of many collectors with ties to the Snow Camp community.

Yvonne studied commercial art from 1979-1981. She worked as a textile designer for Burlington Industries, Mebane Knitting Mills, and Riddle & Cockerell.

Yvonne was very proud to have been a graduate of Sylvan High School in the class of 1959. She worked on the artwork for the Sylvan High School Annual her senior year. In High School she also served as manager of the Basketball team. She was listed as a member of the Sylvan School faculty from 1974-1977 in which she served as a teacher’s assistant. Yvonne is also acknowledged in Sylvanian, a History of Sylvan School, for her contributions to the artwork and cover design.

Yvonne and her late husband Herbert were active members of the Cane Creek Friends Meeting. Her love of genealogy led her to be active in the Cane Creek Church Heritage Room.  She was acknowledged in From Whence We Came as a contributor to the publication highlighting the history and families of the Cane Creek Friends Meeting published on the 250th anniversary of the church in which she provided artwork where photos were not available as well as history of the McPherson family.
