Mrs. Emilie A. Strohlein, 81, of Chapel Hill, N.C., passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, with her son Frank by her side.
Known to her friends as Emy, she was born November 24, 1942 near Olomouc, Czechoslovakia to Bohus Stejskal and Emilie Jakob. Emy spent her childhood and adolescence in Seligenstadt, Germany. It was in Seligenstadt where she met her eventual husband, Claus Strohlein. They married and lived in Lagos, Nigeria for 3 years before immigrating to the United States in 1967. Over the years, they lived in North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Emy finally settled in Chapel Hill, N.C. for the latter years of her life where she had a vibrant social life surrounded by good friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes, and supporting the family business. She loved traveling the world and enjoyed meeting people of all walks of life.
Emy was preceded in death by her husband, Claus, in 2004. She is survived by her son, Frank Strohlein and his wife Susan, along with her grandsons Jacob and Nicholas.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 5 from 5-7pm at McClure Funeral Service in Graham, N.C. The Liturgy of the Word funeral service will be on Saturday, April 6 at 11am at McClure Funeral Service in Graham, N.C.
