John J Glosek passed away March 18, 2024 in Burlington, NC. He will be laid to rest during a graveside service at Alamance Memorial Park, March 28 at 11am.
John was born in Coal Township, PA on March 15, 1928 to Joseph John Glosek and Laura Grayeski Glosek Dombrowski. He was a veteran who served in both WWII and the Korean War. After leaving the military, he took advantage of the GI Bill and got both his undergraduate degree and two Master degrees in engineering. John worked for Western Electric/AT&T as an electrical engineer and was involved in creating important new technology for the armed services. He retired from AT&T in 1993 after almost 35 years of service.
John was happily married to the late Peggy Fegter Glosek for 59 years and had 3 children. Her passing in 2020 was a great sadness that took a long time to heal. Dad was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was generous with his time and sharing his many abilities and knowledge. Dad also had a great sense of humor that was there until the end.
His last 4 years were spent in assisted living and his grace, humor and gratitude while making the best of that change in independence was inspiring.
The Village at Brookwood is a wonderful community whose friendship and kindness to Dad and his family is so appreciated. The skilled nursing staff at Brookwood are extraordinary. Thank you for taking such good care of our father. And the AuthoraCare Collective hospice staff are also to be thanked for their incredibly kind, gentle and professional support.
John Glosek will be missed by his family: daughters Carolyn Glosek and Susan Glosek Guza (Blair Guza), granddaughters Margaret Blair Guza and Abigail Guza.
The family truly wishes to extend thanks to all for the support, thoughts and prayers offered before, during and after Dad’s passing.
